Dreamcatcher | Original Acrylic Painting

Dreamcatcher emerged through experimentation and a willingness to abandon the original plan.

What began as one idea gradually transformed into something entirely different: a swirling form that reminded me of the dreamcatcher I had as a child. It made me smile.

The contrast between the deep black surroundings and the vibrant blues, yellows, whites, and burgundy tones creates a sense of movement and depth, drawing the eye inward toward the center.

The composition invites different interpretations. Some viewers see a dreamcatcher, a flower, a spiral, or a burst of light.

Despite its relatively small size, Dreamcatcher has a strong presence. The circular motion gives the piece energy and focus, while the rich colors create a sense of warmth and wonder.

Like many of my paintings, this piece became a reminder that creativity often unfolds in unexpected ways. Sometimes the most interesting discoveries happen when we stop trying to control the outcome and allow the process to lead the way.

Usually my son names my paintings, but this time the painting had already found its own name. The image brought back memories of the dreamcatcher I loved as a child, making Dreamcatcher the natural choice.
